And so it begins…

I have been thinking about starting a blog to discuss my art for a while now, but never seemed to find the time to do it. Finally, after many hours figuring out how to work with Squarespace, I have now set up my first website and blog! I hope to use this website to motivate me to continue exploring my creative abilities and to reflect on my process.

The accompanying piece on this blog post is a diptych painting that I created in my senior year of college. It is two 5’x2’ paintings done using oil paints. Both paintings are of the same collage that I created from random pieces of materials I had collected (e.g. fabrics, necklaces, etc.). One version is a realistic depiction of the materials and textures, while the other version is abstract.

These paintings have moved with me from Wellesley to my first Boston apartment, and then to London! When I first created the paintings I did not anticipate how big a personal attachment I would have to them, but after following me on all of my big moves in my adult life, they serve as a great reminder of my art and motivate me to continue with it.
